I'm looking at replacing my current external hard drive for a better one, I was looking on ebuyer and I know Seagates have a 5 year waranty which is really good.

I came across this one:

I have the 750gig version and it has (So far) proved to be extremely reliable.

Funny thing though, I have had mine several years and it has an esata interface yet this one only appears to have usb. I would have thought that is a retrograde step unless esata has been discredited in some way.

One other comment I would make is that mine came pre-loaded with some crap software which never worked properly. This is not a problem because you can wipe it and use your own, but, personally I would have preferred to have taken delivery of a pristine disc with software on cdroms.

IMHO I would not be too worried about the five year warranty because no warranty is relevant if you have lost everything. I am a firm believer that most products like this either go wrong in the first few hours or last.

Thanks ened that looks a very good drive and I'm hoping to have it this week.
