Refers to the format in which the media is created.

DVD minus is a lot more common than DVD plus at present, and must PC DVD ROMS will only play DVD Minus at present.

Also DVD Minus media is cheaper to buy.

I can`t give you any advice on which burner to buy as I have a Pioneer A105 (DVD minus) and I love it !!

"...DVD ROMS will only play DVD Minus at present."

Not true! Most DVD Roms will play both formats especially DVD+ (I have a very old (4 years) Toshiba DVD Rom and that is very happy with either media. Also, I have yet to find a DVD player (Normal television one) that will not play DVD+

You takes you pick - DVD+ has a faster writing potential (up to 8 speed rather than 4) but yes - the disks are a little more expensive but get them at the like of Ebuyer and its not so bad.

I use a Plextor P-708 DVD+ DVD-.
