DVD-R media for Lightscribe

  Jim Thing 12:45 02 Apr 2006

Could someone please point me towards a UK supplier who actually has DVD-R Lightscribe blanks in stock? (reputable make preferred, of course). A frustrating Google session has turned up a string of "out of stock" reports from all the likely sources.

Does anyone know why this problem seems to affect DVD-R only? DVD+R Lightscribe blanks seem to be widely available.

you're not alone, looks like it's proprietary issues. Lightscribe and dvd+r are hp products.

there you are, pricey though.

..but pricey, as you say. I'll leave the box unticked for a while, in case anything cheaper turns up.

Just noticed. They're DVD+R...

Thanks anyway

so they are.
I blame the PCW search!

PS. Why not get a printer and print disks? I have a lightscribe drive and only ever used it with the sample disks I got free with the drive. I got an Epson R340 and the printed disks look really professional, almost like retail dvds and cds in quality.

Agree with SG Atlantis®. I have an Epson R200. Prints direct to "printable" CD/DVDs and in full colour as well.

Seems to be some -R on this site, mixed up with Labelflash disks as well. Don't know if Labelflash works with Lightscribe though.

Sorry, just realised they are CDs not DVDs.

As far as I know (which isn't far!) Labelflash and Lightscribe are different technologies and are not compatible.
