Digital SLR

In the January issue of PCA, page 94 under "ultimate wish list", there's a picture of a Canon EOS 5D digital SLR camera for the rather appealing cost of £900.

I haven't been able to find this model anywhere for below £1600.00, indeed in some sites it is listed above £2500. I just wondered if PCA could advise me as to where they sourced their prices from?

I want one for 900gbp please!

it's obviously a mistake isn't it.

although, you say that you can't find the model anywhere for less than £1600 - how hard did you try?

I just typed in 'canon eos 5d' into google - the 3rd link down had it for £1499

Cal - well done for finding ebay. The current bid is £1000.00.

Jimmybond - If it's not a mistake I would like to know. I want one.

Not a very good idea to buy DSLRs from Hong Kong, as usually if something goes wrong you have to send it back to them. Canon L lenses are a different matter as they usually come with a worldwide guarantee.

Also if the camera arrives without attracting import duty, then you may have problems if you take it out of the country.
In this case such as One Stop Digital save quite a bit of money at your expense.

As for the 5D on Ebay you can almost guarantee this will reach £1500 plus in 5 days time.

If you decide to go the Hong Kong route I can recommend Digital Rev. Have dealt with them on several occasions, always found them to be first class

I can only assume its a misprint though whats puzzling is that whoever wrote about it says about it being the only camera of this class to breach the £1000 mark.

I'm certain that it must be a misprint. What if it isn't though? The last time I visited Jessop this model was next to the Nikin D2Xs and marked for sale at above £2500.

I'd buy it for £900 tomorrow if only PCA could confirm where they got their quote from.

that is Nikon of course.

but I know a man who will, and I've emailed him. By this time tomorrow all should be resolved.
