Thanks in advance.

Look at the Altec Lansing range of computer speakers.

Altec Lansing has long been a highly respected US manufacturer of hi-fi speakers and conceived and produced the initial design of speakers intended to be used with a computer system.

I agree with Stuartli. I have a speaker system from Altec Lansing and I like them but!!

Choose one with a bass control button!

Go to PC World and try them out.

For your budget Logitech' 5.1 X540 are great value. I have found them to be well made and with very good sound characteristics. You may need to purchase a couple of rear speaker extension cables as the ones provided can be a bit short but these are pretty chaep from the likes of Maplin
