Cheap PC - £450 all in ! HELP !!!!

  MrAnderson 19:25 13 Jan 2004

Dont ask how I managed to do this but I have somehow become the chief fund raiser for a new PC for a forum member on a message board I now visit (boo hoo the lounge was so good !!)

So here we go. I have raised £450 in 3 days. That amount needs to pay for a PC that is capable of the basics. It will be used for internet access and more than likely some basic Word applications. I cannot imagine it being used for hardcore gaming.

The PC will need a 17" screen as well. Oh and if you can find it Works 7 included.

Staples had an Acer for £399 before Xmas not sure if there will be any left, or the exact spec. but might be worth a look and see what they have.

yes that is a superb package but when you put in delivery as well it comes out at £544. Unless Mesh feel sorry for a pensioner from bournemouth then it busts the budget too much

thanks anyway

i ntice these pcs mainly come with 256MB memory. Is that enough to support WinXP?

  josie mayhem 20:19 13 Jan 2004

Yes 256mb is enough to run xp, has that all I've got on my machine and I don't get any problems. I do a bit of digi photo editing with this, and I find this is amble to carry out what I want and need to do. As for a all in computer sorry I can't help you there, onlys build my own.

PCWorld has 2 E machines at under £450

Win XP will run on 128mb but as memory is so cheap, it shouldn't be an issue. My wife bought a PC from PC World with 128MB, I upgraded by adding 256MB from Crucial for £28
