Anyone know much about carrera computers and if they are a reputable company.

PCA magazine frequently rates tham highly. However there have to my knowledge been hundreds of bad comments on this site, regarding their lack of support. The ball is in your court. Why not ask around regarding the reputations of small local computer builders, and get a quote from them? You may pay a few pounds more due to their not being able to bulk buy components, but it will be built to a spec agreed between you. You will pay for exactly what YOU want, and NOT what they decide to put in. You will not pay for unwanted and so called free software programs which would clutter up your machine. You will not pay for holding on for thirty minutes or more for a £1 or £1.5 a minute help line. Help will be available just down the road. It's the way that I have always gone, and so have several friends, and we are all happy bunnies.

Carrera in the search box and it comes up with 61 other entries. Worth a read.
