I've just given up trying to install Carbonite's free trial edition - after 2 hours of trying ...
I've followed all their advice on steps to take :
- disabled Norton Antivirus - disabled Windows firewall - restarted computer - configured Internet connection to recognise click here as a trusted site - uninstalling Carbonite - going to my account on the Carbonite site to reinstall
But I still get an error message every time, taking me to a page about Norton Internet Security, advising how to configure the Norton Firewall (which I don't have - I have Norton Systemworks - no Firewall).
I was really keen to try carbonite and then probably to subscribe as it had been recommended in PC Advisor magazine ... but not if I can't install it !
Anyone any ideas on what could be blocking the installation (I use Windows XP SP2 and whilst I use Spybot & Ad-Aware neither are in background operation).
OR - any suggestions of a better on-line back-up service (i.e. one that installs & works !)
