Can't decide where to buy from... HELP!

  PC User 18:00 20 Jan 2008

Ok, I have been looking, googling, researching and reading and my head is now the size of a giant pumpkin.

But I am back to square one (well two actually as I know what I want to buy). I still can;t decide where to order my custom build pc.

Choices are:

Cougar Extreme
Dino pc

I know this question has been asked a zillion times, but can someone just advise me against any of the above.

Many thanks

Cougar Extreme seem to be getting the best reviews recently.

I agree it's what I have!

What's your opinion on it? Noise levels?

  Robbed 15:46 23 Feb 2008

I was looking at the XPS earlier, is it noisy ?

  lisa02 16:22 23 Feb 2008

Yes and no.

It's cooled by 2 intake fans located right at the front of the tower. A 120mm one which incoporates the cooling for the CPU and directly below it there's a smaller fan for blowing over the HDDs and PCI cards. The air vents for the fans are quite large, two holes at either of the front of the tower with an inner grill in front of the fan. It looks quite good actually :D but if you touch the tower or even the desk you can feel vibrations from the fans spinning.

No exhaust fans but there is a big grill that you could theoretically fit one. It is very effectively cooled as temp monitors even after gaming have never shown the Q6600 above 50degrees and it idles at less than 30.

So it's not as loud as some machines, even lower spec ones I've had but I'd have liked it quieter and was hoping someone could sort of comment as I seem to be the only one that dislikes the noise of the fans. LOL.

Robbed I'd recommend you phone up and make sure they aren't samsung spinpoint hard drives as I had an engineer out replacing mine and he says he's been busy replacing them in others. Mine where extremely loud and causing crashes.

I got them replaced with Seagate Baraccudas and I have yet to hear hard drive seek noise even if I have the cover off and kneel down to listen.

Not intending to hijack the thread and I appologise even though it is ticked as resolved.

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
