Canon or Epson Scanners

I've decided between a Canon Lide 80 or Epson perfection 3590, both around £85. My main requirements will be photo and A4 paper scanning. I also need it to be able to scan in PDF. Which one is recommended?

Lower down the price range, there is the Epson 3490 (is the 2480 redundant now?) and the Lide 60. Would these be OK for my requirements?

The Canon I had was very good and ultra slim but I needed one to scan slides/negatives. So decided on the Epson 2480. Can be used on Fully automatic mode, although for speed I've found it best to use manual mode for slides/negatives, and it's quick with excellent results. Supercede by 2580 click here
