To buy, or not to buy...

I'm a high school graduate, goin to college. I need a laptop and I'm wanting to choose one fairly soon. With price range of around 1500 dollars I've got alot of options. As it is for school, i can't have a screen size bigger than 15.6. I want at least 8 GB RAM, and 2.4 Ghz processing speeds. Besides school and multimedia streaming, I want to run the couple games I have like LoL, TW, Civ, and a few others. I'm not a super serious gamer, but I want my games to run fast and I hate lag time. I'm looking at a Lenovo y500: I love the power and speed and the ultrabay, but am setback by the seemingly short battery life (3 hrs) and the lack of a touchscreen on Windows 8, which I've heard is a nightmare. Any suggestions? I'm sure you all get this question alot so if so, if I could be directed to a helpful thread I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
