is any blu-ray players with a usb socket in them to be able to plug in usb devices such as some dvd players have.

Yes, the PS3 is the most advanced bluray player you can get.

The bluray standard is still new and Sony constantly updates the PS3 with new features all the time - so your bluray player will have all the latest bells and whistles.

There's also a TV tuner coming out for it - so it'll be a PVR too. You'll be able to watch a bluray and record TV on to the hard drive at the same time.

As for USBs, the PS3 has 2 USB ports (you could easily use a hub) you can plug in pens with photos, music, dvd, divx and other mixed data on it and the PS3 will display them and you can also copy them to the hard drive. The built in wifi will allow you to stream stuff straight off your PC to view on the PS3 if you have wifi on your computer....

Speaking of harddrives - the current PS3 has a 40GB hard drive but on the 29th of August Sony are releasing a new model (for the SAME price) with an 80gb harddrive.
