Best scanner for Vista

  kainos 14:47 09 May 2007

Like many people, having now got a computer running vista, I find that my scanner is not supported (and is not goung to be). I have to buy a new one and it is a jungle out there!
Most don't seem to have Vista support but the Canon website lists those that will run with Vista. However as far as I can see this means downloading the appropriate driver and often, when you download a driver, some of the hardware functions are lost.

Can anyone recommend a scanner that comes with Vista capability in the box?

Preferably it should have Omnipage software bundled. (which probably takes me back to Canon).

If you've got a Mustek scanner, a lot of their Vista drivers are rather cunningly hidden on the Taiwanese website - go figure. That's where mine was.

I installed Vista on day one, my Canon N670U is fully supported (by download) but unfortunately Omnipage bundled with the scanner is not supported, neither is Omnipage 9 Full Version.

At a quick glance, the Canon Web Site shows the LIDE Range which offer Vista Support out of the box and Omnipage SE bundled!
