Basic printer advice needed

  iscanut 11:26 29 Jan 2011

I am happy with colour photo printers and know what is available, but a friend just needs a basic printer for word proc, printing pages from internet, etc and has no need for top quality photo printing. Can anyone recommend a basic inkjet that I could get for her ?

Just get the cheapest epson. Been using them for more years tahn I can remember without any problems except old age. You can get good compatibles from amny places.

As suggested, just get the cheapest. Often one that is being sold off to make way for a newer model

However, bear in mind it is often just as cheap to get one complete with scanner and photocopier and it's really amazing how indispensable these features become in a very short time

I found ARgos better pricing than supermarkets. Got my Canon all-in-one for £35 6 months ago.

I wish I had got wireless cos' I have to keep upstairs desktop on to print.

But if just one PC and printer can sit next to it. Wired USB is easier to setup when Auto Wizards can't get network stuff all setup.

All in ones are definitely useful as low volume photocopiers.

I use syringe + refills to refill cartridges.

Instructions all over the place.
Google "how to refill yourcartridgenumber" or similar
eg I use PG-510 and CL-513

No real recommendations so will go for a cheap one, although ink carts cost as much as a cheap printer !
