AVG and Outlook Express

I have installed AVG Free Edition but why am I unable to get my emails into Outlook Express, it just sits there saying connecting but nothing comes through and then I get message Your POP3 server has not responded.

The message you're getting from Outlook Express means that your inbound mail server isn't responding, and this usually means there's a problem at the server end.

Over what kind of period has this been happening?

it only happens when I install AVG, I have to keep uninstalling it.

the problem is almost certainly being caused by AVG not being configured to 'allow'.

Go into the AVG configuration settings and substitute 'allow' for 'ask'.

Try reinstalling AVG with the advanced install option.

It will then give you the option to install a "personal mail" plugin so that your email is recognised properly.

I had this problem with Thunderbird until using the advanced install. It told me tha my email client wasn't supported, and did I want to install a plugin.

It worked a treat and AVG now works well with Thunderbird.
