Asus A6RP Hardware Limitation

  Amberlodge 16:08 20 Sep 2006

I think it is only fair to inform owners of the Asus A6RP-005P which was Mesh Top Seller as the Asus A6R Pro has a hardware limitation on the sound system.

This means that there is no Stereo Mix option to record internal sound.

The only options offered are

Line In
Mic In

If you mean to record music from Websites (eg. BBC) you need a software program.

Stereo Mix is not a "socket" like Line In or Mic In.

A good free one to try is JetAudio from:

Scroll to the bottom and select Basic Download from JetAudio 6.

The BBC uses .ram format files but you can download Real Alternative which will do the same job. Download from:

Let us know what and where you are trying to record from?

Hello pj123,

I mean when recording using the system not outside programs.

There is no reason at all to buy a program to do what is a Windows XP Accessory. You would normally switch the line to Stereo Mix in MultiMedia Setting in the control panel to record internal sound.

Just a point.. A ram file is a simple text file that nominates the path to a Real Audio file to stream.

I think Stereo mix is a feature of an installed soundcard rather than an XP accessory, may go under "what you hear" as in the Creative Mediasource software supplied with their cards.
This is a free programme and will do the same thing for a system without the function as suppliedclick here
