It has neglected to compare the TDP of each processor, and I would like to know that as it's more relevant to me than a better benchmark figure.

When I next upgrade, I will opt for whichever platform can either run hotter or runs cooler in the first place, because that makes for a quieter tower and silence is golden! My current choice was based on this despite the greater cost involved.

Did this thread start anywhere?

The Athlon and Sempron CPUs run cooler than Pentiums - much cooler. But ironically, the Dual Core Pentiums are actually cheaper than those for AMD, and considered better value at the moment - not sure on their TDPs though.

Worth bearing in mind Intel are bringing out a new set of chips soon which promise to run faster and better than AMD.
