Hello!

I was wondering if anyone could advise me on whether there is a specific advantage of choosing AMD Athlon chips over Intel chips with Music Production in mind..?

Im looking into buying a new PC and i will running Ableton Live 7 and Cubase SX primarily..with lots of tracks running simultaneously..

Does anyone have any opinions on which is better for what i want to do?

any advice would be very very much appreciated!

Matt

It will not make one jot of a difference, whoever makes the CPU.

Almost all of the frequencies recorded will be changed and rearranged, by the chipset of the audio, and will use very little CPU input.

The differences in performance between the Intel and AMD chips (assumming you pick the equivalents) is so slight theres no real difference.

So is there are advantage with one make over another? No.

The processor will make a difference, it takes CPU power for digital audio especially if you're using soft-synths and effects etc, recording multiple tracks though good audio hardware will definitely help. Lots of reading here; click here
