Acer laptop

My brother's laptop was purchased from Acer from an Acer stockist website in November. In January the laptop began to shut itself off and would constantly attempt to reboot itself to no avail. We rang Acer, very courteous and they came to pick the laptop up and took it to their on site repair facility.
They replaced the hard drive (where they believed the fault was) but 2 hours later it was doing the same as it had before. We sent it back once again and this time it came back stating there was no fault but once more, it started to show the same faults and we had to get them to come and collect the laptop again. This brings us up to April 3rd when it was collected and we only just recieved the item back again today and it is still broken.
3 times it has been sent in for repair and 3 times it has been sent back faulty- what can we do now in regards of the law? It seems that their customer service is fobbing us off- as well as head office who we've called also.
