400Mhz memory on AMD cpu ?

One of the options on the Mesh site is to upgrade the memory on the A2800+ PC from 333Mhz to 400Mhz speed. This PC uses an AMD cpu.

I thought I'd read (somewhere) that this wasn't an option with AMD, and that it only on Intel machines.

Is *my* memory failing me - can you really have 400Mhz memory on an AMD2800?

click here and you will see that AMD have a 3200+ with 400Mhz, perhaps that has now been expanded to 2800+as well

If the board supports the memory you can use it.

If its an nforce2 motherboard then the drawback is if you are not into overclocking it will be a waste as this boards memory and cpu is run in sync[ie the same fsb]for best results.

The 2800+ is an 166fsb[333]

If its not an nforce2 board perhaps someone with say a via chipset board can comment
