if i buy 2nd hand windows and office [genuine copies] would i still be able to use and activate them if they hve been used in the past by someone else?

sunny staines,

I would imagine that only full retail packages, would be allowed to be used, and only if they are not installed on another system.

Retail - no problems at all, provided they have not been installed elsewhere before being passed to you.

OEM - the same. The licence is with the PC, not the user. They should not be on any other machine anyway, so again - no problems.

on another computer it's perfectly legal for you to install it, provided it has been unsinstalled from the other machine.

You may be prompted to speak to a Microsoft activation desk person when you try to activate the software, but that's OK - just explain the situation.

thanks every one, not sure if its oem or retail. but i did not want to buy it if the person goes ahead with the sale till i knew where i stood on activation etc.
