I am looking for a 20G hard drive looked on afew well known sites, nothing less 40G board won't take anything bigger,only used by my wife for letter writing and bank account.

The reason for the rise in HDD size is Windows XP and the recent selection of software, which has become bloated.

Tell us more of what you are trying to do and you'll get some sensible information.

Just a thought - From what are you going to reinstall Windows?

You may need to buy a new copy if you don't have the original disk. You could buy an OEM copy with the new HDD

I never thought of that, Win98 on my wifes PC only had a recovery cd which put restored it to the factory settings and have WIN98SE disc given to me by a friend will 98se disc be of any use.

I will not attempt to guide you on how to install the new HDD and OS.

I will leave that to those that actually know what they are doing.
