Anyone else having a problem with Windows Mail, on Vista, causing their machines to lock up/freeze?

(Windows Mail is Vista's version of Outlook Express)

This is affecting several of my friends whom have new PCs or laptops with Vista home Premium. When they try to use Windows Mail, their machines just freeze up.

Machines being affected are an Acer 5920 laptop, Dell Vostro 200 PC and a Asus laptop.

Very strange.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

Nothing on the microsoft knowledge base.

Thanks for any useful feedback.

Can't help but did you look in the Vista Forum because if its a known problem then thats where it would be posted.

I have a bad feeling that it's something due to a recent windows update.

Are you using AVG free email scanner?

If so turn off the scanner and try again.

Did not realise that AVG and Vista did not mix.
Looks like a lot of stuff does not work with Vista.

I am recommending to my friends that they downgrade to XP from Vista.

Thanks again. Will try it out.

So that should be UPGRADE to XP from Vista, shouldn't it? ;-)

AVG and Vista do mix, but make sure you have the latest version. If not use Avast free it works perfectly in Vista.

Will install Mozilla Thunderbird instead.
