WiFi Self Assigned IP Disconnection

  Endways 12:09 04 Mar 2015

My MacBook Pro constantly disconnects from the Web. When using MacBooks 'Assist Me' diagnostics it displays message "WiFi is turned on but is not connected to a network". It also displays "WiFi has the self assigned IP address (this varies, but always followed by the same message) and will not be able to connect to the internet". When I initially log on the IP address is correct and finishes '1.66'. When it switches and disconnects it always displays two 3 character numbers. How do I reset the Network to either recognise or ignore the invlid characters?
