Want a mac but won't support Sony Hardware

I've posted about changing laptop. Currently have a Dell Inspiron 5150 which has suddenly crashed on me and I'm told I need a new motherboard etc etc for it. I am not keen on getting a new PC due to the problems people have explained to me re Vista - our IT guy at work suggested buying a mac as he said he's a convert. However I have a Canon Eos 40d digital SLR camera and a Sony Hard Drive Camcorder. The Canon I believe is supported but the Sony isn't. The Camcorder was nearly £400....I don't know my way round this now? Fix the current laptop, buy a new Dell with Vista or bite the bullet and get a Mac (but what about my Camcorder ?).
Any Advice please

Why not go to Novatech, get a new laptop without an OS pre-installes, buy an OEM version of XP from Novatech at the same time & install XP yourself.

I agree about Novatec

Their after sales is excellent, as is their helpline if you ever need it.

Although I myself, an a Vista fan, and wouldn't go back to XP.

All the best.
