Using Linus to run Apple programs

Hope this is not too obscure! My son is at a Music Academy and wishes to use a program called logic 6 (Emagic), which is now owned by Apple. He has been told that it is possible to run this software on Linux. This, if possible, might be more attractive, using a PC with 2 HDD's dual-booting with XP, as it would seem to be a) cheaper and b) provide a more versatile system.

I would really welcome advice/opinions here folks.

You can get an "emulator" app to allow most other OS's app's to run under linux(WINE,etc)but "porting" another OS's apps to run in linux is not for the linux novice(I tried getting a win game running in linux[following a websites directions]and failed miserably)
