Should i Get 27" refurb or new 21" iMac?

Hi

I'm looking to buy a new iMac

I will be using it for recording with Logic Pro and possibly some Final Cut Pro video editing.

within my budget, I have highlighted two possible choices:

1) a new iMac ME086B upgraded to 16gb memory and 1tb Fusion drive

click here says it is 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz

or

2) a refurbished 27" 2013 model iMac 2013 model which is 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5. 1tb drive 8gb memory

the second one is a faster processor but with the fusion drive and memory upgrade it may not be faster.

Obviously the bigger screen is an attractive proposition.

I'm not sure if the 27 imac can be upgraded later beyond 8gb when i can throw more money at it.

what do you all think? which would you choose?

Regards

Steve

A late 2013 iMac 27" inch should have a max RAM value of 32 GB, although a model number would definitely confirm.

I'm not a Mac User but, from what I understand, the 27" Screen will benefit you far more than a few extra seconds of processing time, required by a slightly lower allocation of RAM.

I did get the 27" in the end. Thanks to everyone for their advice :)

I think there may be new iMacs very soon, so it might be worth waiting a week or so.
