sharing a database between Mac & PC network

I've been asked how to make a database available between a network that uses Macs and PCs.

I know virtually nothing about Macs, but was thinking that if I linked to the data on the server in a format that both the macs and PCs would be able to read, there would be no need to have two copies of the database. The database runs off Microsoft Access.

Are there any problems with this solution or are there any special considerations to think about?

Any advice or pointers would be very helpful.

Once the Mac has been recognised in the Windows environment you should be able to see the database on both platforms. This is taking into account that the Mac has M/S Access installed. In the Apple Menu select chooser and then click on the Appleshare icon, then click on Server IP address and enter the IP address of the server. The next window will give you a choice, select the Macshare. You should now be able to navigate to the shared folder whether you have it saved in the My document or on the Desktop etc.
