old mac laser - chance of adding it to my computer

  sam2004 21:07 14 Dec 2004

well, as i speak the apple computer has gone down - 1989 technology for you!!!

Anyway, i have been trying to add an old apple laser to my new computers, it works fine and has been donated to me so if it is used then i have done well with something that would be thrown away.

I have tried to link it with a parrallel cable but no luck. the last option must be linking it through the appletalk cable, problem being that my computers are all PCs. are there any devices that could 'translate' the appletalk signals into ones that my PCs can read. is there a PC pci card for appletalk connections perhaps??

any help much aprechiated

Make sure parallel port is enabled in BIOS

i have now bought a seriel adatter (9 to 25 pin) to help solve this problem. when i looked into detatil with this port i found that it was not a parrallel but 25-pin seriel!

If that dosent work then i will look for a LocalTalk apple pci card, if i can find one.

thankyou for your help so far

any thoughts on the pci card??
