Is there a Macro I can run that will highlight every cell in a spreadsheet that has more than 27 characters in it please. Thanks.

it as a macro?

You could achieve this with conditional formatting, would that not work?

Simsy

I think thats what I need. VoG normally sorts me out with a macro for similar things.

Select the whole range starting in A1. Format > Conditional Formatting, select Formula Is and enter

=LEN(A1)>27

click the Format button, apply a format and click OK.

That worked thanks. But how do you decide between when you use a macro or formatting?

Its normally better to use CF. However if you want to have more that 3 conditions and you are using Excel 2003 or earlier then you need a macro.
