Machine has DDR 2700 Crucial suggests DDR 3200

Wanting to upgrade the RAM by adding another 512 stick. Sisoft and memtest show DDr 2700 installed. Crucial suggests DDR 3200 Which should I go for?

I think it would depend on what speed your motherboard supports as it is pointless buying DDR3200 if it can *only* run at DDR2700 speeds!

It's rare, and chances are you'll be ok, but sometimes introducing another stick of RAM of different speed, even manufacturer, can cause problems. With this in mind, it may be worth buying some more of what you already have.

If that's not an option, then I don't think you can go wrong with taking Crucial's advice. If there's no real difference in price then get the 3200, the PC will just run it at whatever speed it can, e.g. 2700.
