iMAC and OpenOffice file read only!

I have installed the MAC version of OOo on my iMac which has the latest 10.7.4 OS Lion. A file I took from my windows system, saved with a password and was Office 2007 derived, but opened in my Windows Laptop and then saved as a .odt file will not allow me to edit the document. The message comes up that it is read only. Strange since in the file info, it says I can read and write to it.

Anyone any ideas how I can "open" the file so that I can edit it, short of copying it in sections and creating a new version of the original file?

The version of OOo is 3.3.0 OOO330m20 (Build 9567).

Cheers

One other point I have noticed is the Header and Footer can be edited! But nothing in the main body of the document!

I think I have found the answer, and that is that in File info, under sharing, I had to make sure it was read and write for all comers. Since it has a password on it there is obviously no worry that "anybody" will be opening it and editing on a willy nilly basis.
