I'm just addingmy wife's new Vista Premium laptop to our wireless network. I need to tell the router what it's MAC number is in order for it pass through the router's MAC filtering procedure.Anyone know how I find the MAC number of the laptop's wireless network card please? I do hope I haven't got to open the thing up!
Open a command prompt and type "ipconfig /all"Look for "Physical Address" and you will have your MAC address.
Much obliged, irishrapter. I'll give it a go as soon as the interminable recovery disk creation process has finished.I do wish suppliers would still give you your OS and driver CD's with the machine!
download and run this click here
Looks useful for a lot of things. Thanks Strawballs.
It is very usefull there are other programs that do the same thing but that one is my favourite.
Thanks very for your help irishrapter and Strawballs. Job done!
I hope that the Mac filtering is not the only form of security that you are using!!click here Go to wireless security and read the section on wireless security myths!!!
