HTC One mini preview

HTC One has followed the suit of Samsung (the Galaxy S3 mini and Galaxy S4 mini) and Apple (iPad mini), by releasing a ‘mini' version of its flagship device. The HTC One mini is exactly what you think it is, a mini version of the HTC One.

The HTC One mini is obviously slimmed down in terms of its size and weight (a bit), the knock-on effect of this is that HTC has had to slim down some of the One mini's specs too. The HTC One mini has a smaller screen with lower resolution, half the storage and half the RAM too…and yes a dual-core processor instead of a quad-core that is found in the HTC One proper. Don't get downbeat though, the HTC One mini is still a nice little journeyman smartphone that can do more than a job for you. Its Ultrapixel camera appears the same specs-wise as it's big brother's, but it will lack some of the HTC One's camera functionalities. As you'd expect, the HTC One mini is set to come with an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS complete with HTC Sense magically weaved in. Visit: HTC One arrives in 'Glamour Red' model.

There has been no word on the official UK price of the HTC One mini yet, but as it's quite obviously a lesser specced version of it's flagship phone you can expect the price to be considerably less. The retail website MobileFun has the HTC One mini available to buy at a pre-order price of £379.99.

In terms of a release date, there hasn't been an exact day set yet either. The official word from HTC right now is that it will be available in selected markets from August and then rolled out globally in September.
