Sony has been one of the leading manufacturers of Android smartphones over the last couple of years. Here's where we bring to you what we think the best Xperia smartphone is.

We haven't yet received a sample of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, however given its confirmed spec and design; we fully expect it to be an impressive smartphone. So we are merely including the Xperia Z Ultra in this round up to let you know that it is a device that you should keep an eye on if you're in the market for a huge new Android smartphone.

The Xperia Z Ultra's huge 6.3in screen blurs the line between a smartphone and a tablet (aka phablet). Take a look at our Sony Xperia Z Ultra preview to find out more.

  • Reviewed on: 28 May 12
  • RRP: From £21 per month; Around £330 SIM-free
  • Rating: Rated 8 out of 10

The Xperia P is a more user-friendly sized, better designed and more attractively priced version of the Xperia S. Although the specifications aren't astounding and the software is yet to be brought into 2012, we like the device. Highlights are the decent screen and excellent camera but if you have a bit more cash to spend, the HTC One S is a better option.

The Sony Xperia S is the flagship Android device for the new smartphone manufacturers 'Sony', who have recently bought out its former partner Ericsson.

  • Reviewed on: 4 June 13

The Sony Xperia SP has the spec and price of a mid-range Android smartphone, but when you actually get the device in your hands and start using it any ideas of it being mediocre go out of the window. It really is a class act, so if you're looking for a good phone to browse the web, perform tasks quickly and take decent photos with at a price that won't break the bank, then you really should consider the Xperia SP.

Should you run out and buy an Xperia ZL? In a word, no. There's nothing expressly wrong with it: I rather like the design, which feels modern, if a bit run-of-the-mill. It performs well, serves up plenty of battery life for average use cases, and even has a nice camera once you get used to its limitations (or aren't especially picky). But there are just too many great options out there, and while the Xperia ZL won't disappoint, your money will be better spent elsewhere.

The Xperia Z is the first smartphone which Sony has really nailed. We love the stylish, desirable and rugged design. The combination of excellent performance, a stunning screen and great cameras make the Xperia Z a force to be reckoned with. There is very little to say about this phone that is negative.
