Tech Media is the consumer and SMB division of IDG UK, part of the world's leading technology media, events and research company.
The judges praised the team behind PC Advisor, Macworld, Digital Arts and Tech Advisor for its “commercial aptitude and mastery of publishing across different platforms”.
The award recognises innovation and the ability to produce quality content, regardless of the platform.
The IDG Tech Media team beat stiff competition from BBC Worldwide/Immediate Media’s BBC Top Gear content team, Future Publishing’s TechRadar, Dennis Publishing’s Evo, Hearst’s Cosmopolitan, VICE Media, Metro, and Dezeen.
“I've been convinced that we are awesome for a while. Now the world is catching up!” said Tech Media Editor-in-Chief Matt Egan.
The Media Briefing reported that the judges were impressed with how the teams at IDG had pooled resources to create a shared resource of “unashamedly nerdy” editorial staff to compete in a crowded and competitive market.
The changes led to a strengthened relationship with audiences and a significant increase in the titles' reach and impact, all achieved with the same editorial resources and cost base.
