Sony has announced that UK Tablet S and Tablet P users will get an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich this month.
The firm said that the update will be available in Europe by the end of May and take the devices to Android version 4.0.3. Sony began rolling out the software in the US at the end of last month.
Sony said the upgrade: "brings many new features and operating system enhancements to Sony Tablet S and Tablet P models. Alongside a major user interface overhaul, the update includes a number of new Sony-unique apps and functionality."
General ICS features include creating folders for apps, closing recently used apps with a swipe and the ability to save web pages for offline viewing. However, Sony has also added some of its own additions.
Tablet S owners will be able to directly access and view content such as photos stored on the full-size SD card. Content can be shared via PlayMemories – Sony's cloud-based service.
The over the air update also includes 'Small Apps' which Sony describes as an 'always-on –top launcher' to give instant access to the browser, remote control and calculator apps while using other apps.
In conjunction with the software upgrade Sony is giving away Super Stardust for free via the PlayStation Store.
