The latest iteration of Samsung's tablet PC, the Galaxy Tab, has hit UK stores today.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 features a 10.1in WXGA TFT LCD touchscreen and is powered by a 1GHz dual core application processor, with the latest NVIDIA Tegra chip. Running Google Android Honeycomb, version 3.1 of the operating system aimed specifically at tablet PCs and available in both Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and 3G versions, Samsung says the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 supports network speeds of up to 21Mbps and offers reduced data transfer times.

Furthermore, user will benefit from a 3Mp rear and 2Mp front camera, support for Flash and HD video playback and a Gyroscope and Accelerometer.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is available in either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB capacities and is priced at £399, £479 and £559 respectively. It comes in both black and white, measures 257x173x9mm and weighs 565g. The tablet PC also comes pre-loaded with the firm's Readers Hub that offers instant access to more than 2.2 million books, 2,000 newspapers and 2,300 magazines, as well as Music Hub which has a catalogue of 13 million songs and Social Hub, which integrates email, instant messaging, mobile contacts, calendar and social network connections into a single interface.

A range of accessories for the tablet PC including a keyboard and desk dock and in car charger have also been made available.

"The interest we've had in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 since it was first announced at the beginning of the year has been phenomenal," said Simon Stanford, managing director, Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland.

"Our latest tablet device in the Galaxy range is an example of Samsung's ongoing innovation and a clear statement of intent within the tablet market. We're proud to be able to bring our slimmest, lightest and smartest tablet yet to UK consumers today."

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi only is available from DSG stores including PC World and is priced at £399, £479 and £559 for the 16GB, 32GB or 64GB capacities respectively. A Wi-Fi and 3G version will be made available later this month through mobile networks including Vodafone and high-street retailers such as the Carphone Warehouse and Tesco.

Samsung also revealed the next version of the tablet PC, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, will be made available in the UK later this year. However, it could be soon than you think, after a listing for the tablet PC appeared on Amazon. According to the listing, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 is priced at £605 and will be in stock on August 12, which means Brits will only have to wait one week before they can get their hands on it.
