Foodies will no doubt be aware of the sites and spin-off apps from Zagat, Hardens and TopTable. Hardens annual restaurant awards are based on diners’ recommendations while TopTable.co.uk allows you to book ahead, get good discounts and, should you want to, diss the service afterwards. • Free
