Enterprise security company, Centrify, and data security company, Vera, have inked a strategic partnership that aims to enable enterprises with a simple, unified access to sensitive information shared across Cloud and on-premises systems.
This new offering combines Vera’s file access control and encryption with Centrify’s authentication and user management platform, giving IT teams granular control and visibility over business-critical data, even after files have left the corporate domain.
Based on company managed policies, individual employees can be granted varying levels of access controls within each document without impacting user productivity while IT can seamlessly maintain access control to confidential files and information anywhere they travel.
Vera chief technology officer and co-founder, Prakash Linga, said the single most important factor in a company's security strategy is having strong, but non-intrusive and automated protection.
“Our partnership with Centrify accelerates the rollout and consistent application of data-in-use security, allowing Centrify and Vera customers to centrally manage access to both business-critical apps and data in a hybrid world," he said.
Centrify senior vice-president of business development, Shreyas Sadalgi, claimed it’s essential for enterprises to shift their focus away from perimeter- and device-based solutions as almost half of the breaches in 2015 started with compromised credentials.
“This partnership gives our customers strong encryption and data control abilities that seamlessly integrate with Centrify’s secure identity platform. In order for businesses to operate more efficiently, IT and security teams must shift their focus away from the company perimeter, with the confidence that their data is safe.”
Sadalgi also indicated that managing access to information is a universal challenge, requiring organisations to strike the right balance between convenience and security.Read more:Hewlett Packard Enterprise extends converged systems play
“To ensure that only people with proper credentials are granted access to apps and data, IT teams need security solutions that work effectively across domains. The integration offers flexible, user-centric, access management and advanced data protection for customers in every industry, from financial services and manufacturing, to healthcare and life sciences.
“Together with Vera and Centrify, organisations can confidently harness the Cloud for increased collaboration and file sharing, as business critical data travels across hybrid-Cloud services and privileged devices,” Sadalgi added.
