Global mass media company Viacom has chosen the Brightcove video cloud platform to enable consumers to watch their favourite shows from any device at any location.
"Flexibility" is the term used by Viacom to describe its need to efficiently deliver native app video experiences of Viacom media brands such as MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central to consumers across multiple device platforms. It is this flexibility that has led Viacom to choose Brightcove.
"Brightcove's flexible, modular platform capabilities also help our brands achieve their specific objectives and fulfill their complex requirements for delivering high-quality video experiences," said David Kline, senior vice-president, Viacom.
To provide high-quality, long-form video experiences, the Viacom media brands use video cloud and Brightcove native video player solutions for Apple iOS, Google Android and Xbox devices.
Next in pipeline
Advertising, analytics, audience measurement and digital rights management providers are integrated in Brightcove's native video player solutions for iOS and Android devices. This integration speeds up Viacom's apps delivery to third party services.
In effect, "Brightcove's solutions remove the complexity of video publishing and distribution across devices and makes it easy for us to expand our second screen and TV Everywhere offerings," Kline said.
Brightcove's support for enhanced video experiences includes closed-captioning, authentication, audience measurement and in-stream advertising.
The Android smartphones and tablets are next in the pipeline after the successful launch of MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central, which are the first brands that used Brightcove-powered video app experiences for iPhone, iPad, and Xbox devices.
For Viacom to deliver long-form premium content to cable and satellite subscribers on these devices, the apps also feature TV Everywhere authentication support.
