Corsair’s latest high-performance SSD range, the Performance Pro series, differs markedly from its other top-spec SSD products. It may not have the highest read/write speeds with which to market itself but, make no mistake, the 256GB Corsair Performance Pro is the fastest SSD in real terms we’ve ever tested. With circa-half terabyte per second sequential transfer speeds in either direction, and in honest benchmark tests too – and IOPS figures also exceeding 60,000 IOPS both ways – this is a startlingly quick device.

About the PC Advisor Awards 2012

Our annual roll call of honour considers every piece of hardware and software that has passed through our Test Centre over the past year. We look for innovation and excellence, outstanding performance and value for money.

Only excellent products make the PC Advisor Awards shortlist, and we congratulate all the manufacturers represented on the list. If a product still looks great from the view point of up to a year after its first review, the chances are that it is great.

That does, however, mean that our PC Advisor Awards coverage is not necessarily a buyer’s guide – for that you should visit our Test Centre and Reviews. Some of the products may no longer be available, and in some categories they may have been superseded.

Whittling down the shortlist to pick out individual winners isn’t easy. In all cases arguments could be (and were) made for products other than the eventual winners. But winners there must be.
