If you're a Verizon subscriber, you can pay for an added sense of security with its Total Mobile Protection service, debuting this week. It is intended to help you guard your mobile devices against the perils of this world and get a little extra help when you need it.
The service costs $10 a month and will include access to premium tech support, protection against malware, and insurance to help in case you lost your phone or it gets stolen. The premium tech support gives you shorter wait times, with the help catered to your specific device, while the device protection will be deployed through Verizon's Mobile Security app. That last part doesn't sound too thrilling for Android users, as Verizon already bundles up unremovable software with those devices. Total Mobile Protection will also help extend your manufacturer's warranty and offer next-day device replacement, should disaster strike and your phone gets lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair.
The Total Mobile Protection will not replace the existing device insurance plan that Verizon already has in place with Asurion, but you can purchase any of these services separately, if you please. The program is also available for iOS users.
