Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update

The much awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade for Samsung Galaxy S3 owners has started to arrive.

In the last few days a number of UK mobile operators have started rolling out the software update to Galaxy S3 smartphones. If you haven't got the update yet, keep checking for it as the roll out process is completed.

Vodafone said: "Great news, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will be made available for Samsung Galaxy S3 handsets purchased from Vodafone on Monday."

"The update will be a staggered release, meaning customers will be notified in batches that it’s available for over the air download over the course of several days."

O2 customers should also start receiving Jelly Bean from today. It originally stated that updates would start on 19 October but an unknown problem delayed it until now.

Three tweeted that customers would start getting the Android update last week.

While smartphones are being updated to the latest operating system, Google's Android event is fast approaching where it is expected to announce a new version. However, it's more likely to be 4.2 Jelly Bean than 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

New Nexus smartphones are also likely to be unveiled such as the rumoured LG Optimus G Nexus, or Nexus 4 and the Sony Nexus X.
