Sainsbury's has launched its own mobile phone network in the UK called Mobile by Sainsbury's.
The virtual network uses Vodafone's infrastructure and offers consumers 'competitive pricing'. A major lure will be that customers can collect double Nectar points on any top-up made. See also: What's the best mobile network? UK mobile broadband tested.
Tariff bundles start at £10 per 30 days offering 200 minutes, unlimited texts and 250MB of data. £15 will get you 300 minutes and 500MB of data while £20 bumps things to 800 minutes and 1GB of data.
Mobile by Sainsbury's also offers a basic Pay As You Go tariff at 8p per minute, 4p per text and a data price of 50p per day (for up to 25MB). Customers can top-up as little as £5.
Furthermore, shoppers will get double Nectar points on groceries, general merchandise, fuel and entertainment. On top of that, linking more numbers to the Nectar card increases the amount of points collected for top-ups. Up to four numbers can be linked meaning five times the amount of points.
Sainsbury's told PC Advisor that 4G LTE won't be available at launch but is something the firm will "keep our eye on the needs and demands of our customers to shape future developments."
It also said "you earn points on top-up but you can't use the points to buy top up. You can purchase handsets with Nectar points though".
Update: Sainsbury's has now said: "you CAN exchange points for top ups by buying a top up card in store."
If you should run out of credit, Mobile by Sainsbury's will give you hand with its 'Borrow a Pound' service. It means you can use £1 of emergency credit which will then be taken off your next top-up plus a 10p fee.
