A poll by the BBC suggests that a staggering 13.44% of the UK population are interested in buying Apple's iPhone.

Out of 13,722 people polled, only 11,877 said they they wouldn't buy a £269 8GB iPhone.

This poll result implies that Apple could sell as many as 8,168,326 iPhones in the UK (based on a general population of 60,776,238).

As the BBC's website is viewable by all of the world (except a few places such as North Korea and Iran, both of which have terrible EDGE coverage anyway), Apple could be looking at sales exceeding 887 million iPhones!
