Low cost MVNO Aldi announced it will retire its ALDImobile $35 plan, which comes with 2500 call minutes and 2.5GB, on the 2 April. Replacing the plan is the company's new XL plan which offers half the minutes and less than half the data.
The old ALDImobile plan will be phased out on the 2 April
The new $35 plan -- known as the XL Value Pack plan -- comes with 1,250 minutes and 1GB of data. The plan does include 2200 text messages -- an increase of 200 over the old plan -- and an additional 1GB of data can be purchased for $10, but only after customers have used 70 per cent of their data allowance.
The new Value Pack range consists of four plans that start from $10. An Aldi Australian spokesperson said the changes are in response to new research that suggest some customers could benefit from cheaper plans. "From our ongoing research, we have found that the majority of our customers spend less than $35 based on their current mobile usage," said an Aldi Australia spokesperson in a statement.
