HIS is warning users to be wary of reports of a new netbook from the laptop manufacturer.
Reports emerged on the web last week that HIS was getting ready to launch a 10.2in netbook. Many websites likened the device to the MSI Wind and claimed the Windows XP machine benefitted from Intel's 1.6Ghz Atom processor as well as 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi and Eternet connectivity, a 0.3MP webcam and a four-in-one card reader.

However, HIS has confirmed this product has nothing to do with the company and its legal team is currently investigating the matter.
"HIS, as a global leader in the design, manufacture and sale of advanced graphics products, has no plan for netbook products," said Peter Yeung, Marketing Director at HIS.
"Counterfeiting, copyright theft and piracy are very serious issues and HIS calls on the market to work together to help ensure that illegal practices are stamped out."
