The company’s consumer poll found that many UK broadband users are extremely frustration with the levels of service they receive from ISPs, despite operators' promises that home communications services are improving. picked out TalkTalk and Orange for special attention. It described Orange as the "biggest loser" in the survey, with Orange customers apparently placing the ISP at the bottom for the second time running. Some 400,000 Orange customers – 35 percent of the total – were not satisfied with the company’s offerings.

TalkTalk was also slammed by those surveyed – just 69 percent of its customers were satisfied, according to uSwitch.

"This time last year, free broadband was a novelty. Customers signed up by the masses to experience the broadband phenomenon, often for the first time. Now it has become a life essential, so when things go wrong, they usually go badly wrong," said Chris Frost, communications expert at
