PCWorld has released a new ebook detailing the various tech amenities available to tech-using travelers in the nation's largest airports.
The ebook grew from a major feature that PCWorld published earlier this year called "The 20 Best Airports for Tech Travelers." The feature ranked the country's 40 busiest airports based on how well they accommodate smartphone-, laptop-, and tablet-carrying passengers in their terminals.
To establish the rankings, PCWorld sent researchers to the 40 busiest airports in the United States, where they walked to each gate and counted the electrical outlets, USB ports, charging stations, and work desks at each one. They also measured the quality of the Wi-Fi and cellular signals in the terminals.
In all, PCWorld's field researchers visited 3300 airport gates across the United States; counted more than 17,000 electrical outlets, 5000 USB ports, and 1350 charging stations; and performed hundreds of tests of airport Wi-Fi and cellular broadband service.
The new ebook compiles the thousands of data points gathered by the researchers in one convenient resource to help air travelers get a clear idea of the number and quality of tech amenities awaiting them at the gate.
"The 20 Best U.S. Airports for Tech Travelers" is available now in a variety of formats.
